Archway Homes Plan
Archway Homes 17-home proposal faces community challenge over children’s project site
Malpas Residents Challenge Housing Development as Archway Homes Plan Threatens Children’s Community Project. Archway Homes has submitted a planning application for 17 houses. The plan will include 5 social houses, three for rent and two shared ownership. Our understanding is Muir Housing Association is working together with Archway Homes on the social housing side and they will likely be managing the social housing.
Archway Homes has been granted planning permission but this outcome is being investigated. More to follow....
The Malpas Community Plan
Beautiful open green space, nature trails, wildlife haven, flower gardens, forest school, and more!

The design is focused on the environment, wildlife, and the communities well-being. The design has been created in line with the community’s feedback.
This design has been reviewed by a building surveyor and it is feasible to create. There are plenty of big community funding opportunities to cover projects like this. (National Lottery alone funds up to half a million for community projects)
Hopefully, our project fits in line with the Malpas village sustainability plan as there are already plenty of new housing developments moving forward.
Below is an outline of what could be done.
Walking loop in the center.
Nature trail loop
Gated Forest School for the local Alport primary school.
Gated Community Allotments with raised potting beds for people who want to sit & garden/ also suitable for wheelchair users.
Off-lead park for dogs to play. Dogs would have access to the open space but they would need to be under control because of children & wildlife.
Existing park to be revamped for all-year-round use (small astroturf area on the right - wood chippings surrounding the park equipment on the left)
Sensory play area for children under 3
Raised sand play area
37 x community apple trees
4 x community pear trees
Plants and flowers
Wildlife pond equipped with a strong child safe- low-level aluminum diamond grate.
4 sheds equipped with solar panels and battery storage unit. (This would Power pole lights and supply power to Archway lighting/ Christmas lights etc)
Bird feeders
22 x extra large metal archways for plants and winter light display (see illustration for reference)
The area would be powered by solar panels with battery storage on site. There is a plan to revamp the play park equipment but this would be discussed once we have secured the land.
